Major Cause of Death


Cardiovascular diseases was a major cause of death in Poland with 179889 registered deaths (in year 2016) i.e. 47% of total deaths. Overall Cardiovascular diseases, Cancers and Dementia were the highest types of death causes in Poland.

  • We see the maximum number of deaths is seen in age group 70+ with 247895 deaths (year 2016).
  • 45.81% kids below age 5 years die because of Neonatal disorders.
  • Cancers, Road accidents and Drowning are the major cause of death in kids aged 5 - 14 years.
  • Cancers, Cardiovascular disease and Suicide are the major cause of death in people aged 14 - 49 years.

Major Risk Factors of Death


  • Three Major factors of death in Poland are High blood pressure, Smoking and High cholesterol. Every year around 63 people die due to High blood pressure.
  • Low birth weight and Child wasting are the major risk factor of kids death aging under 5 years.
  • Alcohol use and Outdoor air pollution are the major risk factors of death of people aging between 5 to 14 years.
  • Alcohol use, Smoking and High blood pressure are the death risk factors of people aging between 15 to 49 years.
  • Smoking, High blood pressure and Alcohol use are the major death risk factors of people aging between 50 to 69 years.
  • High blood pressure is the major death risk factors for people aging more than 70 years.

Cancer Analysis


0.83% of Poland population was suffering from cancer i.e. 441522 people (average of years 2011-2016). Highest number of cancer patients deaths were recorded due to Colon & rectum cancer (Count : 14457) and Stomach cancer was also concerning with 5946 deaths in a year. In last few years it has been observed that, people suffering from Esophageal cancer have 5% of survival chance.Poland was really successful in diagnosing Testicular cancer where 98% of people were cured.Highest number of cancer patients i.e. 238089 people were of age group 50-69 year olds.In 2016, 61220 were suffering from Colon & rectum cancer out of which 14457 people were dead. This means 23.61% death rate of people suffering from Colon & rectum cancer. This below data represents major cancer types in Poland and number of deaths due to particular cancer types :
