Major Cause of Death
Cardiovascular diseases was a major cause of death in Solomon Islands with 1611 registered deaths (in year 2016) i.e. 35% of total deaths. Overall Cardiovascular diseases, Diabetes, blood and endocrine disease and Cancers were the highest types of death causes in Solomon Islands.
- We see the maximum number of deaths is seen in age group 50-69 with 1470 deaths (year 2016).
- 42.33% kids below age 5 years die because of Neonatal disorders.
- Cardiovascular disease, Road accidents and Drowning are the major cause of death in kids aged 5 - 14 years.
- Cardiovascular disease, Diabetes, blood, and endocrine diseases and Cancers are the major cause of death in people aged 14 - 49 years.

Major Risk Factors of Death
- Three Major factors of death in Solomon Islands are High blood sugar, High body-mass index (obesity) and High blood pressure. Every year around 52 people die due to High blood sugar.
- Low birth weight and Child wasting are the major risk factor of kids death aging under 5 years.
- Household air pollution and Iron deficiency are the major risk factors of death of people aging between 5 to 14 years.
- High body-mass index (obesity), High blood sugar and Smoking are the death risk factors of people aging between 15 to 49 years.
- High blood sugar, High body-mass index (obesity) and High blood pressure are the major death risk factors of people aging between 50 to 69 years.
- High blood sugar is the major death risk factors for people aging more than 70 years.
Cancer Analysis
0.27% of Solomon Islands population was suffering from cancer i.e. 846 people (average of years 2011-2016). Highest number of cancer patients deaths were recorded due to Breast cancer (Count : 50) and Stomach cancer was also concerning with 42 deaths in a year. In last few years it has been observed that, people suffering from Stomach cancerEsophageal cancer have 14% of survival chance.Solomon Islands was really successful in diagnosing Tracheal, bronchus, and lung cancer where 93% of people were cured.Highest number of cancer patients i.e. 355 people were of age group 15-49 year olds.In 2016, 242 were suffering from Breast cancer out of which 50 people were dead.
