Cardiovascular diseases was a major cause of death in Paraguay with 11175 registered deaths (in year 2016) i.e. 31% of total deaths. Overall Cardiovascular diseases, Cancers and Diabetes, blood and endocrine disease were the highest types of death causes in Paraguay.

  • Three Major factors of death in Paraguay are High blood pressure, High blood sugar and High body-mass index (obesity). Every year around 92 people die due to High blood pressure.
  • Low birth weight and Child wasting are the major risk factor of kids death aging under 5 years.
  • Household air pollution and Outdoor air pollution are the major risk factors of death of people aging between 5 to 14 years.
  • Alcohol use, High body-mass index (obesity) and High blood pressure are the death risk factors of people aging between 15 to 49 years.
  • High blood pressure, High body-mass index (obesity) and High blood sugar are the major death risk factors of people aging between 50 to 69 years.

Cancer Analysis


0.5% of Paraguay population was suffering from cancer i.e. 22702 people (average of years 2011-2016). Highest number of cancer patients deaths were recorded due to Colon & rectum cancer (Count : 554) and Prostate cancer was also concerning with 526 deaths in a year. In last few years it has been observed that, people suffering from Esophageal cancer have 5% of survival chance.Paraguay was really successful in diagnosing Testicular cancer where 94% of people were cured.Highest number of cancer patients i.e. 9704 people were of age group 50-69 year olds.In 2016, 2727 were suffering from Colon & rectum cancer out of which 554 people were dead. This means 20.32% death rate of people suffering from Colon & rectum cancer. This below data represents major cancer types in Paraguay and number of deaths due to particular cancer types :
