Major Cause of Death
Cardiovascular diseases was a major cause of death in Mauritania with 3692 registered deaths (in year 2016) i.e. 20% of total deaths. Overall Cardiovascular diseases, Cancers and Neonatal deaths were the highest types of death causes in Mauritania.
- We see the maximum number of deaths is seen in age group Under-5 with 5554 deaths (year 2016).

- Three Major factors of death in Mauritania are High blood pressure, Outdoor air pollution and High body-mass index (obesity). Every year around 1074 people die due to High blood pressure.

Cancer Analysis
0.2% of Mauritania population was suffering from cancer i.e. 3821 people (average of years 2011-2016). Highest number of cancer patients deaths were recorded due to Breast cancer (Count : 206) and Cervical cancer was also concerning with 196 deaths in a year. In last few years it has been observed that, people suffering from Stomach cancer have 3% of survival chance.Mauritania was really successful in diagnosing Kidney cancer where 88% of people were cured.Highest number of cancer patients i.e. 1695 people were of age group 50-69 year olds.In 2016, 1082 were suffering from Breast cancer out of which 206 people were dead.
