Major Cause of Death


Cancers was a major cause of death in Japan with 382166 registered deaths (in year 2016) i.e. 28% of total deaths. Overall Cancers, Cardiovascular diseases and Dementia were the highest types of death causes in Japan.

  • 41.34% kids below age 5 years die because of Congenital birth defects.

Major Risk Factors of Death


  • Three Major factors of death in Japan are High blood pressure, Smoking and High blood sugar. Every year around 567 people die due to High blood pressure.
  • Low birth weight and Child wasting are the major risk factor of kids death aging under 5 years.
  • Secondhand smoke and Iron deficiency are the major risk factors of death of people aging between 5 to 14 years.
  • Alcohol use, Smoking and High blood pressure are the death risk factors of people aging between 15 to 49 years.
  • Smoking, High blood pressure and High blood sugar are the major death risk factors of people aging between 50 to 69 years.
  • High blood pressure is the major death risk factors for people aging more than 70 years.

Cancer Analysis


1.01% of Japan population was suffering from cancer i.e. 2470928 people (average of years 2011-2016). Highest number of cancer patients deaths were recorded due to Stomach cancer (Count : 54751) and Colon & rectum cancer was also concerning with 49583 deaths in a year. In last few years it has been observed that, people suffering from Pancreatic cancer have 35% of survival chance.Japan was really successful in diagnosing Testicular cancer where 99% of people were cured.Highest number of cancer patients i.e. 1496101 people were of age group 70+ year olds.In 2016, 279434 were suffering from Stomach cancer out of which 54751 people were dead. This means 19.59% death rate of people suffering from Stomach cancer. This below data represents major cancer types in Japan and number of deaths due to particular cancer types :
